The Kilimanjaro diaries
In our first travel diary of the year, follow intrepid explorer and musafir.com co-founder, Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani, as he climbs to the top of the world's tallest freestanding peak, Mt Kilimanjaro.
The seven day journey by foot through Tanzania's wild Lemosho glades covers a vertical distance which is more than five times the height of the Burj Khalifa. The summit itself lies on the rim of a dormant volcanic cone which rises to a spectacular 5,895 meters.
Read the story of Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani's incredible journey right here as we follow him from February 24 to March 3 in The Kilimanjaro diaries.
You can also help the team of explorers raise a mountain of cash to beat the spread of Malaria in Tanzania by clicking here to donate directly to the Malaria Consortium. The team's goal is to raise one pound for every meter of Mt Kilimanjaro that they climb.

Our last br ...

It was six in the morning and Zed had to literally shake us out of our sleeping bags on day five, as we were exhausted from the previous day’s hike and wanted to take advantage of every last wink of sleep. He was keen to make a head start because he knew that there wouldn’t be much time to rest ...

Our seven hour climb today was going to take us east on a fifteen kilometer trail to the top of Lava Tower and then back down to Barranco Camp. It w ...
