Royal Nepal Airlines

    Established in 1958, Nepal Airlines is Nepal’s first airline with its hub at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. In 2015, Nepal Airlines flew 253,658 passengers as compared to 2014 which had 206,430 passengers. The airline is controlled by the Nepalese government. NAC plays an important role in the economic development of the country.


    Royal Nepal Airlines Fleet

    The first aircraft for the airline was Douglas DC-3 which served domestic routes and some destinations in India. The airline bought its first aircraft Boeing 727 in 1972. At present, the airline has 9 aircraft in the fleet. During Nepal earthquake, the airlines received the 2nd Airbus A320 to help aid tons of people stuck in the rubble. In 1966, turboprop Fokker F27 was added to the fleet. In 2009, Nepal Airlines signed MoU at Dubai Airshow to buy 2 Airbus A320-200.


    Royal Nepal Airlines Destinations

    At present, Nepal Airlines operates 7 international destinations of Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Doha, Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. The domestic destinations cover 25 destinations in Nepal. The airline is banned in EU since December 2015. The airline generated $54.3 million in 1988—89 showing a profit of $17 million. Hence it became the largest employer in the country.


    Royal Nepal Airlines Business Class

    The Shangri-La or business class passengers get special benefits like priority check-in, comfortable seats, choice of cuisine and selection of wines. The airline has 16 seat configuration. The 3-course meal is served to passengers with a choice of chicken, fish or mutton based. Vegetarian meals are available on special request. Business class passengers get the advantage of 40 kg baggage allowance and 30 kgs to Indian destinations.


    Royal Nepal Airlines On board Facilities

    All meals are prepared in a clean and hygienic manner by the top chef from the hotels in Kathmandu. A complimentary bar service is also available in flight. The passengers can choose from the menu or special plans in case of religious reasons beforehand. All economy class passengers enjoy 30 kg baggage allowance except for flights to Hong Kong. The allowance is only 25 kg.
