Georgia that was once a part of the erstwhile USSR is bafflingly beautiful

The country of Georgia that was once a part of the erstwhile USSR is bafflingly beautiful. Whether it is the local cuisine or the green-mantled hills, or simply its lesser-known history, Georgia will engage your mind and heart, and ultimately leave you speechless.

1. Tbilisi

The capital city of Georgia will strike a chord with the lover of art in you. The town is situated on the cliff-side and is suffused with the essence of the olden days of Georgia. Yet it is modern with state-of-the-art facilities in place including fine-dining restaurants and hotels apart from other illustrations of modern-day living. There is also thriving nightlife in Tbilisi.

2. Kazbegi

The Gergeti Trinity Church is well nigh an iconic manifestation of Georgia's culture, history, and traditional knowledge. It is located in Kazbegi under Mount Kazbegi. After completion of your trip to Tbilisi, you can head out for Kazbegi, as the two are located within a close quarter. Likewise, commit it to your memory that while climbing down, care to halt at the Stepantsminda town and savor the Khachapuri bread that is a local delicacy made with ample cheese.

3. Kutaisi

Kutaisi in Georgia houses the legislature building and as a result, it becomes equally important to Tbilisi. Albeit smaller than Tbilisi, Kutaisi is no less charming and modern. While on one hand, you can explore the comely monasteries and churches here, on the other, you can find interesting places to try out the local cuisine scene.

4. Mestia

Mestia is a town in the mountainous region of Svaneti, an isolated mountain region. The culture that thrives here is unique and different, and as a result, it has emerged as one of the most popular places to visit in Georgia. Today on account of the popularity the government has developed an airport terminal here and several top-notch hotels and restaurants have come up too. But a unique thing about this place is that Mestia has remained successful in maintaining its old-world charm.

5. Ushguli

Ushguli is located close to Mestia. Ushguli is a cluster of tiny hamlets located in the Caucasian mountains. It is accessible via the road from Mestia, or a 4-day trek. The location is breathtaking and unforgettable as there are several ancient watchtowers that stand guard at the entrance along with the long ranges of imposing mountains that create the perfect backdrop.

6. Ananuri

Georgia is also well-known for having some of the most striking castles in the world such as the Ananuri castle. It is situated around 70 kilometers north of Tbilisi. Built in the 17th century, it is more like a small complex wherein one can find other interesting structures such as churches and watchtowers that are climbable. The castle stands by the Aragvi River.

Think interesting? Why not try it out. Book a flight and get ready for the trip.
