Merlion with family

When you holiday in Singapore, you cannot miss Merlion – the national personification of Singapore. Standing tall at the waterfront Merlion Park, the iconic Merlion is the country’s most popular landmark. This mythical animal, which spouts water, has the head of a lion and the body of a fish. The body of this fictitious creature represents Singapore’s beginning as a fishing village, and the head of the lion is symbolic of its original name ‘lion city’. On any day, one would find tourists thronging this attraction and jostling to pose for a photograph with it. Built by Lim Nang Seng, this iconic statue was unveiled on September 15, 1972 by the then Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. If you want to visit Merlion, we have some really good vacation packages.
