Finnair

    Established in 1923, Finnair is the national carrier of Finland. The airline has its hub at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. The airline and its subsidiaries dominate the domestic and international flights in Finland. The government owns the majority of the shares of the airline. In 2015, Finnair transported 10 million passengers. The airline has around 4817 employees. Besides, Finnair is the 5th oldest airline in the world and the safest airline in the world.

    The fleet

    Finnair Airlines currently operate 74 airlines in its fleet. The airline has 8 Airbus A319-100, 10 Airbus 320-200, 15 Airbus A321-200, 8 Airbus A330-300, 10 Airbus A350-900, 11 ATR 72-500, and 12 Embraer E-190. Finnair’s fleet is known to be the most modern in Europe. Besides, the aircraft produces less emission, hence is environmental friendly as well. The fleet includes Airbus 319, 320, 321, 330, 340 and 350. For domestic regions, ATR-72 and Embraer E-190 aircraft are used. The wide body aircraft are used on longer duration flight like India and Middle East.

    Destinations

    The airline flies to over 110 destinations in 37 countries worldwide. The airline covers Asia, Europe and, North America. The airline has 3 scheduled routes to North America. Miami has 3 days a week, New York on a daily basis and Chicago on a seasonal basis. In 2016, the airline introduced 4 new routes to Europe. It also introduced new seasonal routes to Japan and China.

    Business Class

    Business Class passengers can enjoy access to lounge facility on the airport. The airline operates 3 lounges at the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. One is located at the Schengen Area which the Gold and Platinum Business Class passengers can avail. The non-Schengen Area lounges have sauna access as well. Anyone can become a member of the Finnair Plus frequent flyer program. The members have privileges like priority check-in and boarding.

    Onboard Facilities

    During the European flight, cold salad or sandwiches are served with non-alcoholic beverages. But, alcoholic drinks are available for purchase. The domestic flights have snacks and non-alcoholic beverages served. But, on business class in Airbus, there is a dedicated counter for the snack bar. Since 2014, complimentary snacks and drinks are discontinued. The in-flight magazine called Blue Wings is available along with a packed entertainment AVOD system.

    Online booking and Check In

    Passengers have an option of checking in online or at the airport. To avoid long queues, passengers are requested to avail the online check-in option.
