Tunis Air

    Established in 1948, Tunis Air is the national carrier of Tunisia with its main hub at Tunis-Carthage International Airport. The airline is also a member of Arab Air Carriers Organization. The airline became the first Airbus 319 customer in the Arab world in 1997. Tunis Air expanded its network in 1950. In 1957 the Tunisian Government became the largest shareholder of the company and Air France’s stake was reduced to 15%. In 2011, HamadiThamri replaced Nabil Chettaoui as the CEO and President of the company.

    The fleet

    Tunis Air has 30 airlines in service as per November 2016. The airline became the first customer of Airbus A319 when it ordered 3 aircraft in October 1997. Tunis Air also ordered 3 Airbus A320s. The airline also acquired 4 Boeing 737-600 which were expected to be delivered in 1999. But with the knowledge of two new variants, the airline decided to replace Boeing 727 and 737 from the fleet. The airline took the delivery of the first Airbus 330- 200 in June 2015. But the order was changed to Airbus A320neos.

    Destinations

    Tunis Air flies to 30 countries and 44 destinations. The airline flies to Africa, Middle East, Europe and North America. In 1951, Casablanca, Tripoli, and Ghudamis were added to the airline’s network. The airline’s first trans-Atlantic flight Tunis to Montreal took place in July 2016. The airline also announced to strengthen and expand its services in France. From 2011, more 22 flights per week will fly from Tunisia and France.

    Business Class

    Tunis Air has comfortable business class seats, broad arm seats, and spacious cabin area. The business class passengers also called ‘Espace Privilege’ can enjoy delicate cuisine depending on one’s preferences. The business class passengers have a dedicated counter at Tunis airport and the lounge section. On arrival, the business class travelers will receive priority baggage delivery. The baggage allowance for business class is 30 kgs with 2 items of hand luggage and 1 accessory.

    Onboard Facilities

    Basic food and drinks are complimentary. Special meals have to be pre-booked. Onboard entertainment systems are available on long-haul flights. Passengers traveling with the economy are allowed 20 kgs with 1 hand baggage and 1 accessory. If passengers are traveling with pets, they can allow them in the cabin with prior reservation.

    Online booking and Check In

    Online check-in is available 24 hours before the flight departure. The passengers can either choose mobile or web check-in as per their convenience. Passengers with only hand baggage can proceed to security check except for on Tunisian airports. The passengers can cancel their online book 3 hours before departure.
