Established in 1988, the airlines is a major People’s Republic of China with its hub in Beijing Capital International Airport. The airline carried 51 million domestic and international passengers in 2013. Air China was establishment when the Chinese government decided to split the Civil Aviation Administration of China into 6 airlines.

    Air China received the responsibility of long haul flights and routes. In 2010, Air China received the Spain’s highest tourism award the "Plaque for Tourist Merit". The airline became the first foreign company to receive such an honor.

    The fleet

    Air China operates both passenger and cargo aircraft and has 383 airplanes under its name. After acquiring China Southwest Airlines in 2001, the airline increased its fleet to 118. In 2015, the airline selected Boeing 737 Next Generation and 737 MAX to become a part of the fleet. Although, the deal has not yet finalized.

    The airline continues to replace Boeing 777-300ER with Boeing 777-300ERs since early 2011. These new aircraft will operate on US routes to Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco.

    Destinations

    The main network of the airline comprises of Asia, Middle East, Western Europe and North America. The destinations to these places are connected from Shanghai. Air China is one of the few airlines to fly on all 6 continents. The airline started its operations to South America in 2006. Air China also started its flights to Taiwan but has to cover the flag of China on the fuselage. The airline started its flight to India in 2012 and has 7-11 flights a week to the USA.

    Business Class

    The airline provides Chauffeured Transfer service to the passengers traveling by Air China Business Class. The travelers should be a member of Phoenix Miles Premium to avail this service. Air China provides food reservations for Capital Pavilion Business class passengers on long-haul international flights. The passengers should make their reservations beforehand. The business class consists of 2-2-2 configuration on flights.
