Mihin Lanka

    In operation since April 24, 2007, Mihin Lanka got popular as a low cost leisure airline of Sri Lanka. Mihin Lanka operates from its hub at Bandaranaike International Airport. The carrier provides top-notch services to the passengers along with a comfortable flight. Mihin Lanka is a budget airline that provides complimentary refreshments to the passengers.

    It comes equipped with latest aircraft landing systems. Post its merger with Srilankan Airlines, Mihin Lanka ceased operations in October 2016. Srilankan Airlines have taken over most of the scheduled flights and is covering more destinations.

    The fleet

    The airline plans to transition from A320 family aircraft to 737-800s and introduce a business class product. But the carrier expects to remain small with only 3 carriers. Sri Lankan and Mihin Lanka Airlines have been unprofitable in the recent times. But, Sri Lankan’s position is improving with fleet renewal and membership of oneworld.

    Destinations

    The Airlines cover several destinations like Bahrain, India, Indonesia, Kuwait, Maldives, Oman, Pakistan, Seychelles, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and U.A.E.. Mihin Airlines shares codeshare agreement with Sri Lankan Airlines.

    Business Class

    The airlines plan to start business class from 25th May 2014 on all routes except Gaya and Varanasi. The A320/321 will come with a separate business class having 12 convertible seats. The business class comes with a more in line with Sri Lankan business class. Mihin Lanka follows European short-haul model. This comes as a more seamless experience. The business class in the airline will provide a gateway to more premium passengers. The business class passengers can avail the lounge access on the airports and separate check-in counters.

    Onboard Facilities

    Mihin Lanka comes with amenities like hot meals, beverages including liquor and entertainment facilities. Some extra amenities like blankets and pillows are also provided. It also has amenity kits and entertainment tablets. The business class seat on Mihin Lanka Airlines will limit to 32inch to 34inch with 6inch recline. The business class comes first in the front and economy at the back.

    Online booking and Check In

    Mihin Lanka has a hybrid product with complimentary check-in baggage for business class. The passengers can avail the online booking facility from the website. But separate check-in counters will be available at the airport. The passengers can drop their luggage and select the seat as per their liking.
