Air Baltic

    Established in 1995, the flag carrier Air Baltic is a state-owned Latvian low-cost airline. The airline its main hub at Riga International Airport. It also has bases in Tallinn Airport and Vilnius Airport. In 2014, Air Baltic was the first airline in the world to accept Bitcoin for online bookings. A total investment of €132 million can change the faith of the airline which will be complete by 2021.

    This includes fleet moderation. In 2010, Air Baltic planned to establish a new hub at Oulu Airport but in 2012, the plan was cancelled due to financial issues. In 2011, the government of Baltic and BAS agreed to invest in the airline.

    The fleet

    Air Baltic is renewing the fleet of Boeing 777 with Bombardier CS300 by 2020. The current fleet consists of 8 Boeing 737-300 and 5 aircrafts of Boeing 737-500. The airline is expected to receive 2 CS300 in 2016 and 6 in 2017. Air Baltic has ordered for 8 more in 2018 and 4 more in 2020.

    Destinations

    The airline currently provides 60 destinations across the globe. The airline provides a seasonal, direct and year-round trip to Riga, Tallinn, and Vilnius. The airline does not operate long haul flights. The airline also shares codeshare agreement with several airlines. In 2004, the airline launched its services from Lithuanian capital Vilnius. The airline also covers many areas of Europe and Russia.
