Established in 2007, Somon Air is the first private airline in Tajikistan. The airline has its base at Dushanbe International Airport. Somon Air started operation in 2008 with daily flights to Dubai and Moscow. The airline also serves as the official carrier of the President of Tajikistan along with other high ranking officials.
Somon Air has signed agreements with major airlines of Commonwealth of the Independent States, Europe, and Asia. For continuous growth, Somon Air believes in collaborating with others and working towards expansion. The airline is also a part of IATA Billing and Settlement Plan. The airline also cooperates with DNATA, FRAPORT, SHELL and THY.
The fleet
Somon Air has 6 aircrafts in the fleet all belonging to the Boeing family. This includes 2 each of Boeing 737-300, 737-800, 737-900ER. The airline wet-leased an airline of Boeing 737-800. Now, the airline owns 2 of them. Somon Air is the first airline in Central Asia and CIS to operate 737-900 aircraft. Later in 2011, the airline bought 2 news 737-900 ER for its fleet. Due to its strategic location, Somon Air plans to expand to several destinations.
Destinations
At present, the airline operates to 22 destinations and expanding. The airline flies to Frankfurt, Dubai, Istanbul, Kazakhstan, China, and Russia. However, there are regular flights to Khujand to Krasnoyarsk and St. Petersburg. In addition, the airline operated flights to Saudi Arabia during the Hajj season.
Business Class
The airline provides 30 kgs for business class passengers. The business class passengers receive priority check-in, premium food and beverages options in flight. The airline has an alternate airline members option with several benefits. The hand luggage should not weigh more than 10 kgs for business class passengers. The airport is equipped with VIP facilities which are in a separate building.
Onboard Facilities
The flight includes meals and beverages of all kinds. The international flights include an entertainment system with a variety of movies, music and games to choose from. The hand baggage should not exceed 8 kgs limit for economy class passengers. The crew of the airline is friendly and polite and ready to serve all the time.
